Glass fiber industry will speed up penetration into emerging fields

Glass fiber is a kind of inorganic non-metallic material with excellent performance. It has high temperature resistance, non flammability, anti-corrosion, good heat insulation and sound insulation, high tensile strength and good electrical insulation, but its disadvantages are brittleness and poor wear resistance. There are many kinds of glass fiber. At present, there are more than 5000 kinds of carbon fiber in the world, with more than 6000 specifications and applications.

Glass fiber is usually used as reinforced materials in composite materials, electrical insulation materials and thermal insulation materials, circuit boards and other fields of national economy, the main fields are construction, transportation, industrial equipment and so on.

Specifically, in the construction industry, glass fiber is widely used in cooling towers, water storage towers and bathtubs, doors and windows, safety helmets and ventilation equipment in toilets. In addition, glass fiber is not easy to stain, heat insulation and combustion, so it is widely used in architectural decoration. The application of glass fiber in infrastructure mainly includes bridge, wharf, trestle and waterfront structure. Coastal and island buildings are vulnerable to seawater corrosion, which can give full play to the advantages of glass fiber materials.

In terms of transportation, glass fiber is mainly used in aerospace industry, automobile and train manufacturing industry, and can also be used to manufacture fishing boats. Its process is simple, anti-corrosion, low maintenance frequency and cost, and long service life.

In the mechanical industry, the mechanical properties, dimensional stability and impact strength of polystyrene plastics reinforced with glass fiber have been greatly improved, which are widely used in household electrical parts, chassis and so on. Glass fiber reinforced Polyoxymethylene (gfrp-pom) is also widely used to replace non-ferrous metals in manufacturing transmission parts, such as bearings, gears and cams.

The corrosion of chemical industry equipment is serious. The appearance of glass fiber brings a bright future to chemical industry. Glass fiber is mainly used for manufacturing various tanks, tanks, towers, pipes, pumps, valves, fans and other chemical equipment and accessories. Glass fiber is corrosion-resistant, high strength and long service life, but it can only be used in low pressure or normal pressure equipment, and the temperature is not more than 120 ℃. In addition, glass fiber has largely replaced asbestos in insulation, heat protection, reinforcement and filtration materials. At the same time, glass fiber has also been applied in new energy development, environmental protection, tourism and arts and crafts.
